Patriot Varsity defeats Bruins
September 21, 2007
The
Fort Dorchester Patriots defeated the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins
tonight by a score of 28-6 . The Bruins scored first and were
leading 6-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Patriots took control
after that and scored 28 unanswered points. The Fort was led on offense
by junior quarterback Galen Bennett, who was 10-14 passing for 113
yards and a touchdown. Senior running back Dwayne Scales led the
rushing attack with 14 carries for 82 yards and a TD. Sophomore running
back Michael Sellars ran for two more FDHS touchdowns. The
defense was led by junior linebacker Adrian Stewart with 8 tackles, 4
solo tackles, and an interception late in the 4th quarter.
B-Team/JV Victorious over O-W
September 20, 2007
The
Fort Dorchester JV defeated Orangeburg-Wilkinson
15-12.
The
Patriot B-Team defeated the Bruins 7-0.
Galen Bennett name Player of the Week
September 18, 2007
The
Post and Courier today named Patriot QB Galen Bennett Offensive Player
of the Week. Bennett ran for 200 yards on 10 carries in Friday night's
win over Wando. He also threw for 71 yards and scored two touchdowns,
one rushing and the other through the air.
B-Team loses to Wando
September 15, 2007
The
Patriot B-Team fell to Wando 12-6 this morning in a game
postponed from Thursday night due to weather. It was the first loss of
the season for the 4-1 FDHS B-Team.

September 14, 2007
Fort
Dorchester came away with an impressive win tonight over the Wando
Warriors. The Patriot offense was led by quarterback Galen Bennet who
ran for 200 yards on 10 carries and passed for another 71 yards. The
Defense put together a team effort, recording five sacks by five
different players. 14 different players had tackles, led by Kenneth
Cook with 9 as the Fort held Wando to only 104 net yards.
Weather sidelines B-Team and JV

The
Fort Dorchester vs Wando B-Team and JV games were cancelled tonight due
to lightning. The B-Team game will be played on Saturday 9/15 at
9:00am. There will not be a JV game. Come out to Bagwell Field
on
Saturday to support our UNDEFEATED B-Team Patriots!
Patriots victorious over Trojans
September 7, 2007
The
Fort cruised to a 35-6 victory tonight over James Island, as the
Patriots emptied their bench in the second half after starting the game
with 35 unanswered points. The only James Island score was on
a
long run with 13 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter. The first half
was dominated by the Patriots on both sides of the ball, while the
second
half was dominated by defense for both teams.

The
Patriots JV returned to their winning ways tonight with a
convincing 23-0 victory over the James Island Trojans.
The
Fort B-Team continued their unbeaten streak, shutting out the Trojans
26-0.
Patriots fall to Stags
August 31, 2007
The
Fort Dorchester Patriots suffered their first loss of the
2007 season, losing 30-24 to
the Berkeley County Stags. The Patriots were unable to overcome the
sloppy field conditions and the Stags powerful running game. The final
difference came down to the kicking game, as both teams scored 4
touchdowns, but Berkeley added three extra points and a field goal
while the Patriots were unsuccessful on two extra point kicks and two
2-point tries.

JV, B-Team split games with Berkeley

The JV
suffered their first loss of the season tonight, falling to the Stags
8-6 in overtime.
The B-Team
goes to 2-0 with an impressive 26-0 win against Berkeley.
Robert Quinn Named Player of the
Week
Tuesday, August 28th 2007
The
Post and Courier today named Robert Quinn Defensive Player of the Week
for his performance in Friday's game against Goose Creek. Quinn led the
Patriot defense with 12 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks. The stingy "defenders
of the Fort" only allowed the Gators 221 yards total offense. Goose
Creek averaged more than 400 yards per game last season..
FDHS Wins Opener 28-7
Friday, August 24th 2007
The Fort Dorchester Patriots opened their season with a win tonight,
completing a sweep of the Goose Creek Gators as the JV and B-Teams were
both victorious on Thursday.
The Patriots offense was led by senior Dwayne Scales with 178
yards
rushing and 2 TDs. The defense also turned in a solid performance led
by senior Robert Quinn with 12 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
Scales scored on the Patriot's first
drive with a 57
yard touchdown run. The scoring effort went 77 yards in 4 plays.
On the first play of the second quarter, FDHS extended it's
lead
when junior quarterback Galen Bennet ran
24 yards for
another TD on the 10th play of another 77 yard drive.
Later in the second quarter, the Gators cut the lead to one TD when
senior DJ Tartt broke loose for a 39 yard touchdown scamper.
In the second half , the Patriot defense shut down the Gator offense,
holding GCHS to 120 total yards and no scores.
Junior
linebacker Adrian Stewart stood out in defense. Stewart ended the game
with 12 tackles, an assist on a sack, and broke up a pass
which
was almost intercepted.
The Fort extended their lead again in the third quarter when sophomore
Michael Sellers ran in another touchdown from the 3 yard line. Sellars
had 8 carries for 63 yards and one reception for 9 yards coming off the
bench.
Scales finished off the scoring with a five yard touchdown run early in
the fourth quarter.
Senior kicker Chris Kifer was a perfect 4 for 4 on extra points.

Friday night ESPN Radio
910 The Team will bring their big Motor Home to broadcast a pre-game
show and the game live.
Darren Goldwater, Jonas
Mount and Ted Byrne will broadcast their pre-game show
starting at 6pm.
They will be joined by
ABC News4 as they broadcast the 6pm sports from the Fort.
At 7:30 the guys will
move up to the booth for the live play-by-play call of the game.
The Pre-game show will
include segments with Phil Kornblut on recruiting, and Phillip Bowman
of the Post and Courier as he previews all the High School
Games in the Lowcountry that night.
